About this Death Cafe

Please come and speak up about death, your feelings, your expriences, your concerns. Let's laugh, let's cry, let's get comfortable - as comfortable as possible - with dying. And let's hopefully have some tea and cake, and follow the tradition begun by Jon Underwood, the founder of Death Cafes across the world.

About Karen Pielke

Karen Pielke has been involved in grief education and death and dying care since the death of her father, author Robert G. Pielke, in 2014. Taking the pain of loss and working with it, she has begun to forge her way into volunteering for hospice, 11th Hour Care, death midwifery and grief support as an autodidact.

Ms Pielke supports increasing the knowledge of death and dying care and feels that until one knows all the options, one cannot make a truly educated choice about the needs and wants of oneself, or when one helps others make end of life care choices.

Pielke is a mother to 5, has writing and editing experience, loves multicultural education, hard shell crabs from Baltimore and unschooling. She lives in Claremont, CA, with her husband, 2 of her 5 children (3 are adults!) and her 3 dogs.
