About this Death Cafe

Six months ago, my beloved aunt died, quite unexpectedly. Although she was aging, and in poor health, I was not prepared for her passing. However, it has become a catalyst for me to explore becoming a death guide for others in the process of dying; to pursue being a volunteer with my local hospice organization; and to want to talk and share with others their own beliefs, fears, and attitudes around death and dying.

About Vanessa L. White Fernandes

Vanessa is a cis gender woman who lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. On her journey of self discovery she has become more interested in talking with others about death, dying, and what their thoughts and beliefs are around it. Vanessa has created an organization called The Hugging Army, in line with her mission to model for others the Light and Love that resides in each of us.
