About this Death Cafe

Have you ever wanted to discuss your feelings about death, but don’t know how to find the time and place to do so?  Death Café is an opportunity to gather and share  our thoughts,  and  any questions we may have.  This is an open and respectful environment;  free of any doctrine or desire to lead anyone to any particular conclusion, course of action, merchandise, or anything like that - simply a community coming together to speak safely and confidentially; sharing our hopes, expectations and fears about the fact that we are all mortal beings. Well serve some some beverages and sweets to nourish our bodies  as well as our  souls.   All are welcome!

Risa is a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant specifically trained in the art of creating ceremony that gives personal meaning to lifes most significant Rites of Passage;  whether it is the joyous coming together in life-long partnership, the heralding of a new being into the world, the movement from one stage of  life to the next, or the somber honoring of a loved one’s passing.   Risa also has many years of experience as a clinical social worker, specializing in grief counseling.

Nancy is a holistic nurse, who now focuses on teaching mindfulness practices to promote health & wellness in the Sarasota community. She believes that an awareness of our mortality helps us appreciate the joy & wonder of this llife.
