About Dianne Baker and Jackie Avent
Dianne Baker is a counselling therapist and retreat facilitator in Winnipeg. She has had a live long interest in understanding death and dying, and after singing to her father at bedside in the last days of his life, was inspired to begin a Comfort Choir in Winnipeg called 'Singing You Home'. Dianne is skilled at providing safe space for difficult and depp conversation and is happy to offer this support to the Death Cafe process.
Jackie Avent is interested in bringing the conversation about holistic death and dying home in Manitoba. Primarily interested in helping people define what "a Good Death" means for them, Jackie works with friends, family members and her community to normalize "death talk" and help people be prepared for the inevitable in the best way possible. Jackie holds a Certificate of Completion (2016) from the 12-week program of the BeyondYonder Virtual School for Community Deathcareand years of experience visioning and planning with groups and individuals.
