About this Death Cafe

Hi there; this will be the the Death Cafe I have run and there is always something to learn and dicuss to keep the conversation around death alive....so come and partake in chai, cake and interesting conversation on this topic.

About Melissa Halliday (me)

Melissa Halliday the host and facilitator is a Palliative/Dementia Care Volunteer, funeral celebrant, writer, yoga teacher and community choir singer with qualifications in Arts/Law, Yoga Teaching and Remedial Massage.

She believes that none of these degrees and diplomas matter in the scheme of things as death and death literacy requires no qualification other than being human, an open heart and mind and a desire to live life more fully in the context of our own mortality, whatever that means to us.

She has worked in the legal field as a solicitor, has been a wedding, same sex and funeral celebrant and Trainer for over ten years. She has an 88 year old father who is writing his own Eulogy and she delights in facilitating end of life conversations that recognise death and the talking about it, are an important part of life.
