About this Death Cafe

We are running this event because we believe passionately in bringing death out of the closet, and enabling conversations around this much feared event, which we are all destined to face eventually.

We feel that by broaching the subject before we are in our dying days, we can begin to release some of the fear that it holds for so many of us, and hopefully enable us to live more fully and more joyfully in the present.

Attendees are invited to steer the conversation in any direction they wish (provided it is death related of course!).  Quotes and suggested questions for discussion will also be available.

Paula Searle has worked in the NHS for over 25 years in a variety of roles. She is currently the Macmillan health information manager for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust, responsible for both the Health Information Point and the production of patient information publications.

Melissa Stroud has worked in the NHS for over 23 years in a variety of roles. She is currently the End of Life Facilitator for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust, and is the manager for the Bereavement Service.

Both Paula and Melissa are experienced bakers and will be providing homemade cakes for the event.
