About this Death Cafe

After co- hosting our very first  Death Cafe in May at the colourful Summertown Studio we were overwhelmed by the incredible responses and inspirational messages we received by all who attended.

We discovered how life-affirming it can be to have the opportunity to talk openly about death.

We now welcome the opportunity to come back together as well as to extend a warm invitation to anyone who wishes to join us for lively chat, delicious cake and divine hot chocolate.

Places are limited to 25. Free entry with half price drinks and cakes.

Please remember to book by contacting Barefoot Books 01865 311100 or emailing oxford.studio@barefootbooks.co.uk.

About Claire Turnham & OxBEL

Claire Turnham  - Home Funeral Guide, End of Life Midwife and Independent Celebrant.

I have tenderly supported my own family before, during, and after the death of loved ones in both expected and sudden circumstances.

I am now empowering other families to care for their own at death by creating awareness of home based, family led funerals.

I consider it a great privilege to honour individual lives in a way which is personal, significant and meaningful.

I act with respect, compassion and strength and am dedicated to offering higher value, lower cost alternatives to current funeral practices.

"You can't change the outcome but you can change the journey"

OxBEL - Oxfordshire Befriending for life.

OxBEL offers friendship to people living with a life-limiting illness. We also provide support for their carers and loved ones.

Our fully trained volunteer befrienders are supported by a skilled, experienced  and professional team of coordinators. This is a free service.

Dealing with a life- limiting illness and supporting a loved one who is very ill can be among the greatest challenges we face.

OxBEL befrienders offer friendship without fear and with openess and honesty.
