About this Death Cafe

This will be our third meeting, and we lookforward to seeing our old friends as well as any new attendees who join us.

Our previous two meetings were deemed successful by nearly all who attended, and we are grateful for the opinions, ideas, and conversations that ensued.

We would like to remind one and all that this concept has no agenda, and that everyone's opinion and idea is welcome. We respect every point of view, and there is no judgment made. You are encouraged to participate, but if you are comfortable just attending and listening, you are most welcome. Vocal participation is optional.

We wish to provide an intimate and secure atmosphere for people to meet and discuss their interest in the concept of death and its reality and presence in all lives.

Death is a taboo in modern society, especially in the allegedly civilized Western countries. We appear to view death as unnatural, as an enemy to be defeated---a futile hope. We think that open discussion can be helpful in bringing awareness of the value of finite life and making the most of the lives we have.

We wish to thank The Village Coffee Roastery for making this venue available, and encourage D.C.-ers to patronize the refreshments they offer.
