About this Death Cafe

Though dying is a normal part of life and death is part of daily viewing on our screens, it’s a topic most of us are less at ease speaking about, which increases the challenge when dying and death directly impact our lives. Embracing the inevitability of death enlivens daily life.

In current times we generally lack shared community wisdom around dying and death; yet, just a few generations ago people themselves knew or had close neighbours who knew what to do, and how to be with someone who is dying, or mourning a death.

Death Cafes bring people together for a profound sense of community, speaking helps to release fear and build personal literacy around dying and death

Most of us have experiences, stories, questions around dying and death that await expression in the right time and place; perhaps about the death of beloved family and friends, close brushes with death, or ponderings about the process of death or care choices available which improve   quality of life as we die.

Death Cafe Upwey at Abitza Cafe May 28th 2015 offers a relaxed place to share about dying and death over good food and coffee.

There is no charge for Death Cafe, just your food & drink order.

Come and share with others, hear their thoughts and experiences. Build ease and literacy around dying and death.
