About this Death Cafe

I believe there is great opportunity for healing at the end of life, so I am excited to bring Death Cafe to Lopez.  To have those important conversations, to sift out one's most cherished ideals and communicate them to loved ones, to examine the finite nature of one's time here can make life sweeter in the now and more comfortable in the end. Please come out and join the conversation!

About Libby Garcia, organizer

In her career as an R.N., Libby has worked primarily in emergency, and for a time in hospice, where she became passionate about alleviating end-of-life suffering. She volunteers for Whatcom Alliance for Healt Advancement assisting people in drafting personalized advanced healthcare directives and normalizing end-of-life discussions. A third generation islander, she lives on orcas with her dad and old dog Honey Bear. She plays banjolele and keeps handy working on an old boat.
