About Megan Mooney, MSW and Jamie Exline, BSW

Megan Mooney, MSW: My interest in hosting a Death Café stems from my own experiences surrounding death, my research in end of life, and my experiences as a medical social worker. I want to open up the conversation about death, thereby reducing the taboo surrounding death conversations. I believe that if people are more educated about end-of-life decisions, we can promote a better quality of life for people and their caregivers. Also, as a social worker, I feel that it’s important to bring social change to our society, and the Death Café guidelines support these principles.

Jamie Exline, BSW: Jamie Exline is a Masters of Social Work student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She currently serves as a Residence Hall Director at a local university helping mold 400 plus student minds. Jamie was introduced to positive thoughts about death from a very young age through her Grandmother. Those experiences stuck with her and encouraged her to teach others that thoughts about death cultivate a healthy soul.
