About this Death Cafe

Many people ask me 'What goes on at a Death Cafe?' I think they expect it to be very serious, and perhaps morbid. Far from it. We've found that talking about death can enrich our experience of life. It can make us live very much in the moment.

If you would like to join in a conversation about death and dying, come to a Death Cafe. It's a chance to share your story and hear other peoples. Come and say what needs saying, ask the difficult questions and maybe provide some of the answers from your own experience.

Lifeways is the perfect venue for our meetings, with the warm atmosphere of a family home. Some street parking is available, and there is a car park close by in Rother Street.

Come and join us for a casual, constructive and life-affirming conversation. Share your thoughts, questions and concerns about any aspect of life, death and dying.

Our format is informal, however seating is limited, so please RSVP through the form on this page or via email to: glynis.fletcher@talk21.com

Not sure? Want to know more? Email me at: glynis.fletcher@talk21.com

We have been meeting monthly since January this year, on the 2nd Sunday afternoon of the month. THERE WILL BE NO DEATH CAFE IN OCTOBER.  We look forward to meeting you over tea and cake very soon.

About Glynis Fletcher

I work as a counsellor and supervisor in the area of palliative care and bereavement with hospice staff, adults and children.

Through the experience of my own personal loss, and those in my professional life, I find that I am most profoundly affected when there have been missed opportunities to communicate. Running monthly Death Cafes, where these difficult conversations are explored and affirmed, has been liberating and extremely rewarding. I welcome this movement towards developing 'a more friendly relationship with death'.

I celebrate life by running open-access accapella community choirs, and running singing groups for parents and young children. Pure joy!
