RSVP's

we are about to hold our first Death Cafe meeting/gathering in September and we were wondering if after publicity has circulated with date, place and time, if it would be a good idea to provide an email address, designated to our death Cafe and ask for rsvp's in case we have a bigger response than anticipated. Our meeting place can only accomodate a total of 20 people.  Just wondered how other organizers handled this issue. We don't like the idea of having to turn anyone away, due to limited space.

Crowthorne in England

I created a gmail address asking people to confirm their appearance.
It worked for me I had responses for booking the first event and requests for letting now of future dates.

Good luck Annie C

For our Perth Death Cafes, we ask people to RSVP and provide an email address for them to do so. Adding a phone number too sounds like a good idea for me, if people attending may not be on email.

RSVP??

I would not use meetup. I don't think the saturation of use is widespread enough. In my experience, there is a significant older adult population who has an interest in attending. By requiring them to register on a website they may not rsvp. If you MUST have rsvp, I would also allow people to rsvp by phone. You could get a google phone number so you're not giving out your personal number. I do not do rsvp though.

Meet up

I use Meet Up to announce my Death Cafe and it can track RSVP's. For less than sixty dollars a year you can set up a Meet Up site for your Death Cafe. I think you will like it.
